Picture this: You’re walking through your local CVS Health store. Your hips and toes have already started burning. All you want to do is get back into your car to sit, but even that’s a challenge. As you make your way to the pain aisle, you want something — anything — to make it go away. You put a hot and cold compress into your cart. But bending down to lift the Epsom salt is going to be a challenge. Should you ask the stranger shopping next to you for help?
Today is the day – it’s time to join the fight against arthritis by participating in #GivingTuesday! November 27, 2018, is a global day dedicated to giving back and celebrating generosity. When you give to the Arthritis Foundation, you help support our commitment to helping the 54 million Americans with arthritis. Give, so the 300,000 children who struggle with arthritis pain daily can say Yes to childhood. Give, so we can fund research for better treatments and a cure. Give, to help make possible more life-changing tools and resources. Continue reading On This Day of Global Giving, Help Cure Arthritis
Meet Shannan O’hara-Levi
When Shannan O’hara-Levi was only 7 months old, her mother noticed that she would wake up from naps crying and grabbing at her knees. Mrs. O’hara took her to the doctor, only to be brushed off and told it was just “growing pains” that would eventually go away. Ironically, a few years later at a routine checkup, the pediatrician asked Mrs. O’hara why Shannan wasn’t brought in earlier for her red, swollen knees. That’s when Shannan was finally diagnosed with juvenile arthritis (JA). Continue reading No One Should Be in Debilitating Pain, Especially at 3 Years Old
On #GivingTuesday, You Can Support Our New Rheumatology Fellowship Program
Imagine waking up every morning feeling so tired and sick that you can’t get out of bed. Your joints so swollen that you can’t put on socks or shoes. A waiting list for your doctor so long, it will be months before you’re able to get care.
That’s the reality for millions of Americans, including hundreds of thousands of children, who face a steadily shrinking pool of rheumatologists to provide care. This severe shortage means that patients often spend months waiting for appointments, with many traveling hundreds of miles for the specialized care they need.
But on November 28, #GivingTuesday, you can help change that by donating to the Arthritis Foundation and supporting our new rheumatology fellowship program.
The Arthritis Foundation is participating in Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.
Arthritis is serious. It can even be life-threatening. It compromises the livelihood and outlook of the people it affects. Each day and all year long we help people with arthritis overcome everyday obstacles while working to conquer arthritis once and for all. The arthritis community depends on us for daily support and long-term hope.

Thanks to all of you, we received over $190,000 in donations on Giving Tuesday! To say we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our community would be an understatement. Thank you from all of us at the Arthritis Foundation for your support, your generosity and your commitment – to helping advance our mission and supporting the estimated 300,000 children like Carson living with juvenile arthritis.
There’s still time to help Carson! Today is the day – it’s time to join the fight against arthritis by participating in #GivingTuesday! We’ve currently raised over $125,000, but we need your help to reach our goal of $150,000.
So many have already given, spread the word and shown their support. But we’re counting on you to help us make a difference in the lives of kids like Carson, who struggle with saying No to coloring, attending daycare and even spending time with friends.
